Spring brings about the most remarkable transformations in the floral park. Bursting forth with tender hues, spring blooms create a dazzling spectacle. In April, the flower beds remain modest, with perennials stirring from their slumber, while tulips, pansies, and daffodils splash vibrant colors across the landscape. Magnolias and cherry trees blanket the lush lawns with their petals, painting the scene with a myriad of hues. As May unfolds, visitors are greeted by cascades of Chinese and Japanese wisterias, forming a breathtaking “wisteria alley” that stretches over 100 meters. Peonies unfurl their delicate petals, irises burst into full bloom, and roses begin to adorn both village homes and park pathways. By June, summer’s warmth starts to permeate the air. Alliums, azaleas, agapanthus, poppies, and an array of other flowers grace the “mixed borders” with their vibrant presence.

Summer is a season of exuberance at the Apremont Floral Park. Perennials, which make up over 90% of the plants seen in the park, are at their peak, with some flowers like delphiniums reaching up to 2 meters in the flower beds. The ponds bloom with water lilies, and all the colors of the rainbow are represented in the garden. This is especially true towards the end of summer, in August and September, when dozens of varieties of dahlias are in bloom. Thanks to our wells, the lawns that connect the different areas remain lush green. The arboretum and water features provide shade and coolness during the hot weather. The summer blossoms are truly spectacular.
From late September until closing time, the garden’s arboretum is the undisputed star of the visit. Its rare trees are adorned in gold, red, brown and a wide palette of oranges to create a unique spectacle. The lovely autumn light and the reflection of the colorful trees in the ponds where the swans bask ensure that visitors have an excellent time. Until the second half of October, many of the mixed borders are still in bloom, with remontant roses adding a touch of freshness to the splendor of autumn at Apremont.

During winter, the park is closed to visitors. Some flower beds are covered with straw and wood chips to protect perennials susceptible to frost, as well as annuals planted in late autumn. Winter is the time for preparing for the spring blooms ahead. The lawns rest after being trodden upon for seven months, and our team of gardeners carries out foundational work: reinforcing flower beds, marking out ponds, automating the irrigation system, among other tasks. It’s also during winter that restoration work on the park’s structures is undertaken. Whether under the frost of a beautiful winter day or beneath a blanket of snow, the park remains equally beautiful. So, don’t hesitate to follow us on social media to discover images of the park during the closure period!
